Julia G. Ko
Founder of CreditCare Technology; researcher on algorithmic decision systems in high-consequence markets.
I lend to the unbanked under some of the world’s most demanding licensing regimes: the Philippines and Vietnam, with an operating partnership in Nigeria. Lending is my laboratory. Underwriting is where algorithmic decisions can be measured with absolute precision and outcomes and feedback are instant.
My research investigates what it takes to run these production systems reliably: combating model decay as consumer behavior shifts, ensuring transferability across geographic markets, and underwriting the thin-file populations that bureaus fail to score. Ultimately, the frameworks derived from this data offer vital insights for sectors deploying high-consequence algorithms, including banking, hiring, and institutional admissions.
Ventures
The ventures: CreditCare Technology and BrightArc, built on the systems thesis SurePod established (acquired 2014).
Research
Working papers and essays on making algorithmic decision systems accurate, transferable, and trustworthy in live markets. Not simulations.
